Mad Tea Party drawing

I've waited until today to make the drawing for the delicious hazelnut chocolate hedgehog candy I promised you if you left a comment on my Alice post back on June 26.
I thought it only fair to wait, as I myself still haven't visited all those blogs on Vanessa's site!
I think I got up to the H's.
Truly I enjoyed everyone's tea party! I'm going to post my favourites soon.
Some of them were phenomenal.
Thanks so much for all your kind comments. I was tickled and so was the Mad Hatter!
THE WINNER OF THE CHOCOLATE HEDGEHOG CANDY IS...
Thanks to all who left a comment. I so appreciated your kind remarks.
The tea was such fun to put together!

You are invited to...

While browsing through one of my favourite blogs, I came upon an invitation to the above; a Mad Hatter Tea Party on June 26th, 2010. Well, this is really my cup of tea! I haven't been the same since watching the new Alice movie last month. I've re-read Alice in Wonderland, and I just finished reading a very thick volume of Charles Dodgson's life, by Morton N. Cohen, plus I've just finished creating a new Alice dress for my Bleuette doll, and am now working on a white rabbit with a waistcoat and a pocket watch.
On Vanessa's blog (above and in my side bar) she says, Jenny Wolf, author of "The Mystery of Lewis Carroll", will visit her blog on June 26th. So I had to sign up! If you visit my blog on that day, I will be having some sort of Alice/rabbit/teapot/tea give-a-way, so be sure to come back for a wonderful tea party!

CONTEST NOW CLOSED.
I'm having another give-a-way tonight. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post, saying why you would like to become an authentic Canadian. I'll draw a name on Wednesday evening. You will receive the cute booklet above, which I picked up at Canada Place Welcome Centre downtown on Saturday. My 300th Post and a Blog Giveaway!!!!

Welcome to my 300th post!
In celebration of this occasion, I will be having a Blog Giveaway.
I haven't done that since my 100th post.
I will be choosing something special; a total surprise.
I'll update this blog once I figure out what the gift will be.
To enter the draw, you simply leave a comment with your name and email.
I'll enter the names in a draw which will take place on
December 13th, St. Lucia Day.
The pictures above and below were taken yesterday, at my very first card making session.
My Mom, my friend Linda, and her sweet grand child, Dakotah, came over at 1:00.
Here they are, hard at work:
Here we are enjoying Christmas tea together, using my Royal Albert Poinsettia design china.
Dakotah had around 8 cups of tea!
She must have British blood in her veins.
It was the funniest and strangest thing.
Linda's swap gift arrived before she left her house, so she brought it along to share.
When she went out to the car for something later, a large box was on my
door step! The mailman hadn't rung the door bell.
It was my swap gift from Betty!
She wrapped everything so prettily, with lots of golden tinsel!
Here is the goody part of the box: a stunningly gorgeous dress by Gloria's Goodies
on eBay. I knew it would look the best on my childhood Chatty.
I was glad I'd picked her from the group upstairs!
Here are the girls in their Christmas finery.
If you click on each photo, you will be able to see all the details.
Linda's swap gift was from Jean, and her dress was made by "Auntie P" on eBay.
What would we do without eBay to shop on?
We had a lovely time! It really feels like Christmas now.
It was supposed to snow last night, but it passed us by.
I cannot express my relief...

My 1st blog give-away of 2009!

I've had a successful month of blogging in 2009; 40 posts! I even surprised myself. Secretly I planned to give a prize to the one who commented the most, (meaning that you are really taking the time to read what I write).

I counted the times you've commented, and I picked out a prize for the winner of the person who commented the most on my blog in January. The winner is....Betty at DayDreamnWorld! Betty commented a total of 27 times! She is a fantastic doll collecting friend, whom I met years ago in a Chatty Cathy doll group. Congratulations, Betty! Would you like me to post a picture of your prize here, or would you like it to be a surprise? It's something for your dolly.

I'm addicted to blogging now. It's an online journal of my life in 2009, and I love journaling. I have a new plan for February. I have a theme for each day of the week, and I will be posting bits and pieces from past journals. I began journaling at the tender age of 10 years. I tried to write each day, just a few lines, and it's intriguing to see what interested me as a child.

Here is an outline of my new theme for February: Memory Monday (I'll show a picture or two from my past) Tasty Tuesday (I'll post a favourite family recipe) Writing Wednesday (I'll talk about my current writing project) Thrifty Thursday (I'm trying to "shop" in my home, using what I've got stashed in drawers; I'll post a picture of a current scrapbooking/sewing project) Fun Friday (I'll post about something in my various collections; dolls, linen, children's books, china, miniatures) Shopping Saturday or Pink Saturday (I'll vary this every other week, as I can't keep up with Pink Saturday each week!) Simple Sunday (I'll post about whatever strikes my fancy)

The winner of the contest prize is...

OK, I finally got around to pulling the name for the contest dolly prize! Can you guess who it was? Fortunately it was a person who loves and enjoys dolls, and has an amazing collection of beautiful Chatty Cathy dolls, and American Girl dolls. She suggested taking both Kit and Samantha with! Tee hee... The winner is: TONI! Congratulations! I will be sending your little prize as soon as possible, probably next week. Thanks for trying, everyone. Alas, you've all stopped posting. I changed the posting rules so now you can post without them coming to me to be moderated first. That was way too time consuming.
