On our way to Heerlen, we had to switch trains a few times. At one station, we had time for lunch and a tour of the main cathedral in Roermond. The little towns are quaint, with market squares built around the main church.
This one was really neat. All of the churches we visited were lovely. They had old statues, graves, altars, etc. I don't know what half the things meant, but the above statue held some old saints, whose names I've forgotten, from around the 1000's. I can't conceive of anything so old. Matthew was feeling saint like so I snapped his photo.
