Most of you know I'm not in the least Catholic, but I created a First Holy Communion dress for Yvette Marie, my reproduction Bleuette doll. I finished it yesterday.
Let me tell you I nearly flung it across the room more than once!
I hand stitched the whole dress, except for the hem, the back opening and the gathers on the skirt. I used a "Le Beau Jour GL 1954" pattern, drafted by Rayleen.
I created the veil from a piece of lace, using a Bleuette wedding pattern.
I designed the alms bag at Yvette Marie's waist, by looking at a design for little girls from 1937.
My friend, Marilee, made the rosary.
I created the chapel by applying stickers to a white foam board.

Oh, she is so sweet,Loretta! So many adorable details..it was definitley worth the trouble, though you must have used up vast supplies of patience, indeed! Don't we all wonder, sometimes, why we're giving ourselves so much work! LOL

Hi,
Very nice. I can see the fine details. You hand stitched it! Yes, it must have tested your patience. The result was worth it.
