10 years ago...Laura Ingalls Wilder's home place

10 years ago we visited Laura Ingalls Wilder's Rocky Ridge home in Springfield MO.
I was simply thrilled to be there. A unique museum is in the back with lovely items such as Pa's fiddle.
We weren't allowed to take pictures in the museum.
This is the outside of Laura and Almanzo's home which they built themselves.

Here I am, wearing a sunbonnet similar to the one which Laura always had dangling down her back by its straps. It was 80 years ago that Laura published her first Little House book.
Those are my favourite children's books of all time. I have re-read them often.
I would love to purchase hard cover copies with Garth Williams illustrations as my old paper backs are turning yellow.

Robert and I on the front steps of Laura and Almanzo's home.
I receive e-newsletters from the Laura Ingalls Wilder Memorial Society, and there is a new book coming out next year in 2013, all about Laura's biography which she wrote but it was never published.
Here is a lovely website if you wish to follow news about the book:
In the June 19, 2012 post, there is a video clip showing Pa's fiddle!
I'm looking forward to this new book.

Thanks for sharing this...I would love to visit there someday..I am planning a "Little House" picnic in the park with my friend Betty in Oct. We plan to wear prairie bonnets and aprons, and I will making something from my little house cookbook to bring along. Should be a lot of fun...I just hope the weather will be a little cooler then :) Blessings
