Books and tea times and snow

Lovely delicate snow on my bushes.
You won't believe it but I went to the gym again today. I'm feeling quite good, and I've mysteriously lost 3 lbs already this week. ??? Every Monday I'll report in with my actual weight. I also finished reading my 3rd book this month. I'm on a real roll! I read "Paragon Walk", written in 1981 by Anne Perry. I borrowed this one from the library, and plan to return it tomorrow, so I can get into a routine of visiting the downtown branch more often.

I went to the Metrotown Library last night, and borrowed 2 books about Robert Oppenheimer, who I hadn't heard of before. He was the main person who helped to create the atomic bomb, which I'm sure you already knew. I watched a documentary on his life the other night on one of my favourite TV channels; PBS. It doesn't have any ads! My other favourite channel is the Knowledge Network. I am intrigued with Mr. Oppenheimer. I only wish I could read faster.

(my Mom's nativity set made out of chalk ware, handed down to Leona who admired it from a tender age, purchased in 1952 or 1953 in Salem, Oregon)
Yesterday I went to a lovely Christmas tea at my sister's place. Leona had her apartment decorated so nice with her Christmas things. She had prepared a scrumptious lunch of salad and chicken Alfredo lasagna, served on her fine Royal Albert china. Mmm...good! We ate it listening to Christmas carols softly playing in the background, while watching snow gently falling outside.

You may wonder why we celebrate Christmas so long after Dec 25th? Leona had been very ill at Christmas, and we were all housebound by the snow (due to un-plowed roads here in Vancouver) so she settled on this date, and our parents still couldn't come over because of another snowfall! I bet it will snow until May this year...

I'd still be celebrating Christmas too if I had all that beautiful snow. Merry Christmas!

I love the plate! So pretty.
We have a Nativity just like that.
It was my Mom's from the 1950's. There was a light in the hole in the back to light it up. I remember as a kid worrying that it would cause a fire though because it seemed to get pretty hot inside by the light. Ours had a large fold down door in front.
I have given you and your blog an award. Go to my place to pick it up!!!
We got 6 more inches of snow yesterday!!
