Winter with a vengeance

I watched a blizzard approach our neck of the woods yesterday at 4:20 pm; it began as a white mist on one side of Central Park, which I can see from my upstairs window. I wondered what it was. All the Vancouver weather men had promised us a warm rain and we believed them, fools that we were. It was cool yet creepy to see such a sight. In 10 minutes we were encased in snow, whirling and dancing and racing around our house. In 4 hours we had 6 inches of snow.
I guess I picked a great year to blog every day! I don't have a lack of subject matter to write about. I even took more snow photos, although I will admit I've had my fill. However, there's something about the snow which fascinates me. News 1130 has a question on their web poll today; would you rather have had 3 weeks of rain or snow? I said snow, as I'd always wanted to see what a real winter was like, fool that I am.

If only the city of Vancouver would plow the side streets, or the main side streets to the small side streets, and if Translink would only clear all the bus stops and Skytrain station pathways, I would be very happy. The last time I can remember a huge snowfall like this which lasted more than one week was back in 1970, the year my youngest sister was born. I remember the snow plow coming down Monmouth Avenue, and it was a very narrow street. On today's news, they said the reason the city can't plow side streets is because they are too narrow. But I've been around a long time, and I can remember the good old days.
On another note, here is a picture of Kelsie's new doggie biscuits, bought from Superstore for $7.99 Cdn. Don't they look delicious? She just adores them.

I almost want to taste Kelsie's treats...they look good enough to eat...in fact once we came back with some similar from California and my hubby thought they were people gookies and tried one..the look on his face was priceless as he tired to get rid of the awful gsrlicy treat in his mouth!! I have had way more than enough of the snow...watch the sidewalks if you go out today...the one block trip to the school this morning was a nightmare of slush, snow and ice beneath...and my socks are soaked...

Linda, that's hilarious! Matthew TRIED one of these cookies and said it was quite good. He's always been attracted to doggie biscuits. Tee...hee...I'm NOT going out today. I'm working on correspondence, but will venture out later to mail the letters I've written. Hopefully it will be melted more by then.

I thought you were going to say those were cookies you baked today since you couldn't get out!

I agree, those biscuits look like a plateful that you might have baked for your guests at Christmas! Mmmmm, yummy! I wonder what they taste like, compared to human cookies....that doesn't sound right somehow...!! Anyways, I haven't read your lovely blog site in a while and found it an enjoyable read as usual, Loretta. You always make things sound so very interesting and intriguing!
