The usual blue velvet dresses are missing, but this is the 1970's when fashions changed.

Oh what excitement we had on Christmas Eve. There's our Dad sitting on the floor with all of us, and the family budgie on a TV tray in the middle of all the frenzy.

We opened our gifts on Christmas Eve, which is what my Mom's family had always done, being German, and then we had the added excitement of little gifts in our stockings.
