Christmas present...2010

Isn't this an adorable, whimsical picture?
I took it downtown yesterday, at the skating rink at Robson Square.
Robert & I were tourists for the day.

In September I purchased a marvelous Groupon coupon online, for half price!
It included a room with King size bed in the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, plus breakfast the next day.
Robert & I gave this to each other for our Christmas gift, with tickets for the Goh Nutcracker Ballet in the evening. The weather was marvelous; it was a jewel of a day! The sun was shining with a bright blue sky.
Here's Robert in our room, #1624. We only took this little red bag, and we took the Skytrain downtown. It ends at Waterfront Station and the hotel is just a few steps away and can be accessed underground.

Look at the stunning view from our window!

Me in the lobby of the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel.

Robert with the Salvation Army Kettle drive lady outside London Drugs.

We had 2 free tickets for the Christmas Market.

Matthew working in the Swiss Raclette cheese shop, sponsored by Dussa Cheese.
We tried some. It was HEAVENLY.

Mmm...Mmm....

Proof that Robert was there.

We found out a few weeks ago that the Braun family was staying in the hotel on the same night! They had room 722. Ashley played the grand piano outside one of the ballrooms in the hotel. She played lovely Christmas carol arrangements. Her parents attended an office party later, and Ashley was volunteering for one hour to be the background music. This is the first time she's done this sort of thing.

The view the next day.
The Nutcracker Ballet was phenomenal and we really enjoyed it.

Meeting for buffet breakfast. Poor Ashley was feeling very sick, so couldn't come.

Happy 40th birthday, Marie, and many more!
(her birthday is Dec 19)
It was a wonderful get-a-way!
