Tony Houben: March 26, 1928 - August 10, 2012

Little Antoon Houben on the family car in the Netherlands.
My dear father in law passed away at 5 pm yesterday, August 10, 2012.
I'm in a state of shock because it was unexpected.
I am so very sorry he is gone. He was 84 years old.

Tony (which is what he was called) is 3rd from the right in the back row.
I love to remember a person from looking at old photos.
It's one of my favourite pastimes.

Tony and his younger sister, Jo.

Tony holding little Matthais, a cousin, with Jo.

Tony on the left with his high school friends.

Tony wearing his scouting uniform during the Nazi reign in the Netherlands during WWII.
If caught he would have been sent to the concentration camps.

Tony cleaning the windows in the courtyard of the bicycle shop in Herleen.

Ruth Tepper and Tony on the right. Aren't they cute?

Tony and Ruth. They were married in May 1950.
That's baby Antoon.

Travelling on the boat from the Netherlands to Canada, with very young baby Antoon.
Tony was the only one of his family to immigrate to Canada.

The family man!

Christmas 1953.
Antoon and his little brother, Wim.

These are rather out of order.
This is Ruth and Tony's engagement picture.
I just love this picture.

The whole Houben clan in the Netherlands.
Hubert and his wife in the middle and all the children.
I believe Tony is on the right in the shorts. I'm not positive.
I believe he was child #15!
I will miss him so very much, but Robert has a lot of his qualities and traits.
I am blessed to have found this family, and to have known dear Tony for 31 years.
"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord."

this is such a loving tribute to a wonderful man, Loretta, he is smiling down on you!
(you are not going to believe this but the capcha for comments says DAD 13 isn't that ironic?)
