January 1974; celebrating my Grandma's 66th birthday. Grandpa would be 86 that year. This is also the year he passed away. To me, he looks much older than my own Dad, who is 81.
My Mom always had them both over for a birthday celebration. No one else in the family ever did, to my knowledge. Notice the beautiful Valentine candy box on the cabinet in the background, and notice the plate of Valentine cookies on the table. My Mom would make pink icing, and cover "Dad's Oatmeal Cookies" and add cinnamon heart candies. "Dad's Cookies" is a Canadian brand and very delicious indeed.
I always loved it when we had company!
