Memory Monday....Doll Museum in Laidlaw BC

In working on my first project for 2012; decluttering my bedroom, I was putting away some paper things that I can't bear to part with, and so was also sorting through my stuffed file cabinet.
I came across the above brochure. I had forgotten all about this place.
I can't find anything about it on the internet, and wonder if any of you who read this blog remember it?
There was actually a wonderful doll museum in Laidlaw BC in the 1980's to the early 1990's, I believe.
I'm not sure of the dates. I went there once with my parents a long time ago.
It was filled with marvelous dolls of all description. It closed quite some time ago.
It seems like nothing lasts around here.

This is the back of the brochure.
It's a good thing I'm a pack rat just like my Dad!

Hi, Loretta,
I don't know anything about the doll museum, but I know you must have loved it since you love dolls so much. I, too, love dolls. As a young girl, I played "dolls" for hours on end. I still love dolls! Hope your week has been a happy one~blessings to you~Vicki

Hi Loretta
So glad to hear that there is someone else who has stuff in their bedroom they can't part with. My friend asked me why it was all in the bedroom, but then she can't see why I keep my dolls, either.
Would love to have a doll museum close by - if I had the space and the funds, I'd like to start my own.
Happy Spring!

Hi Loretta, good luck de-cluttering. I am trying to do the same. It is sad about the Doll Museum. I love the pic of the brochure. My sister is a doll collector and we do have a way of collecting things that cause clutter.

Have a happy weekend.
Hugs, Jeanne

I just stumbled upon your blog while trying to find out if there were any doll museums in BC. No such luck, I guess.

I had never heard of this doll museum, but the only things that get patronage (and funding) here do tend to be SPORTS-related rather than arts and history...

Anyway, thank you for sharing the scans! Your blog is lovely. ;)

I was looking up My late Auntie Sylvia's Doll Museums property on google maps only to find it sure don't look like I "remember" as a kid and young adult. My Auntie was very unique to say the least. I remember as a kid going through and through the museum and I was amazed as to how every placement was so precise. Sadly they later had to sell and move closer to Vancouver I was only out there twice in my life but remember the memories like it was yesterday , Thanks for this blog, this is the link to what it looks like today https://www.google.ca/maps/@49.3288927,-121.611957,3a,66.8y,136.16h,96.14t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1seGabhL5Va6PmYV2JuW8QSw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en
